Hi all. Yes, indeed it has been way to long since I added a post. I intended to keep it up, but oh well maybe I can or should this time. Since I last wrote the the babies have grown, and our oldest has inches closer to marry his Destiny.
August 14th is the date, and they are sooooooo ready!!! So I will try and post some pictures and such maybe tomorrow of recent fun.
We bought a house in January, and are settled in very well.
I thought I would post some of the things I have written. So here goes the first one:
CONTENTMENT
Why are we not content?
Are we not satisfied with circumstances? Why not? Are we quietly waiting on the Lord or complaining?
Are we satisfied with our possessions, our status, or our situation?
I know sometimes I want comfort and happiness, but most of the time this is not God's ways.
Why am I not content?
1. The car doesn't work.
2. Family members are not behaving properly. ie: husbands, children, in-laws.
3. Someone said something that hurt my feelings!
Have I never said or done something that was offensive to someone? there are some in the body of Christ I have offended, but because God has given them grace to overlook and love me, I haven't even known I've offended them. Some.....I do know I've offended, and I need to make this right between us.
4. I don't like what's been provided
Clothes, naughty children, food, shelter, A church building, finances.
The truth of the matter is we are not content! there are many reasons why. You pick one on the list or come up with one on your own.
Who are we not content with? I believe it is ultimately God. We are fighting a losing battle when we are not content with Him. We need to trust Him! Is He not trustworthy?
Psalms 118:8 - It is better to take refuge in the Lord to trust in man.
Isaiah 26:4 - "Trust in the Lord forever, for in God the Lord, we have an everlasting Rock.
Proverbs3: 5 & 6 - Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.
If we can truly grasp "Who" brings every little detail in our lives I think we will be on the road to contentment. We can trust Him. He's proven to be faithful over and over again. He knows what's best for us. He knows just what will bring us closer to Him!
What is needed for contentment? Faith to trust Him! Faith is firm belief or trust in a person, thing, doctrine, etc. Opposites of it are doubt, unbelief. To trust Him is confidence - a state of feeling sure. Its opposite is distrust, doubt. You won't have trust or have faith in someone that you do not know.
How do you get to know Him? It's the same message every time. Get into the word, and do it regularly. Col 3:16 - Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom, teaching, and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
Hebrews 4: 11 & 12 - Let us therefore be diligent to enter the rest, lest anyone fall through following the same example of disobedience. For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the hearts.
How can I help others to be content? What to do when I am the cause of others discontentment? to ever think we can do anything on our own is CRAZY!! God does use us though to miniser to people. Who are some people we can minister to who seem to be very discontent with life?
Our children
Our children will resist usually, but if a difficulty arises, take then aside and pray. What every you have going will wait until you have dealt with the matter at hand. Pray alone with them or in a group with the other children. You say, "Yea, but I have 4, 5, 6 children. I can't stop and pray every second something goes wrong. You can't?? So often I wouldn't and wish I had!! Make sure your children know that God's ways are very important to us. When we come to Him when we are weary and heavy laden, He will give us rest!!!
Friends/Family member
So often we say and do things that cause other grief. Because we don't want to offend again we just sweep the problem under the carpet. Wouldn't it be better if we could go to them and tell them we didn't mean for such and such to occur. That we are sorry. So often when we do we get sliced up again, and the fear prevents us from going again. Don't let satan enter in and let a situation fester. He loves it when we are fussing with each other. I think he especially loves it when he cna put a wedge between you and your husband. Your husband is your best friend, keep it that way.
James 2: 8 - If, however, you are fulfilling the royal law, according to the Scripture, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself, " you are doing well.
John 4: 7 - 11 - Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love. by this the love of God was manifested in us, that God sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
Gal 5:13 - For you were called to freedom, brethen: only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.
And there are many more verses on our loving one another. I know I want to be content. And I ask You Lord to make me content no matter what my circumstance is!
Give us words to praise You and give You glory all the days of our lives.
Until next time to God be the glory great things He has done. Amen.
Thanks for posting Mom! Good reminders and Scriptures! I love you Mom! :)
